Outreach

Following our first Amazing Grace Gospel Service on 29th May 2011 we also engaged and supported the Amazing Grace "Let Your Light Shine" Tent Mission in Brinton Park, Kidderminster.

From Wednesday 17th to Sunday 21st August the Mission Tent was open and over 200 folk a night came and listened to local Evangelist Tony Hyams as he preached the Gospel.

On Firday Night there was a dedicated youth evening including performances from LZ7 and Ad-Apt, what a great night that was! About 400 young people came through the tent that evening alone.

Over the course of the week more than 70 people came to know Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

The week was very special in so many ways. Those involved in the mission engaged with the community at large throughout the week, some great relationships were made.

Members of various and diverse churches came together and formed friendships that have endured.

Our God is an awesome God! Praise His name.

We will be hosting another Amazing Grace Gospel Service on Sunday 25th March at 6.30pm

Much of our Outreach work is youth based, though not exclusively! Youth OutReach Stourport (YOrS) is an ecumenical work that we founded in 2007.

We felt God leading us towards the young people of the area. Stourport, along with most other places, has its fair share of youth problems. YOrS was born out of seeing this issue and attempting to face it head on.

After much prayer, a small group of people from various of the local churches met to discuss ideas. We were greatly assisted in this with the presence of a bona fide youth worker, amongst all of us amateurs! Pete Hopper, was a real inspirational and motivational character to have around, he also had a far better idea of what the young people wanted than the rest of us.

From such very small beginnings God has multiplied amazingly! The group has grown and diversified tremendously. The local police and in partciular the PCSO's attend all of our events and indeed sit on our Committee. Both the Wesley Methodist and St. Michaels Anglican Churches are also represented on our committee and support our events in prayer.

We have a Drop-In Centre, effectively a Youth Cafe, which runs every Friday evening in the Youth Club building attached to Stourport High School, which is regularly seeing over 50 young people. We also hold monthly "Tent in the Park" gatherings, where we attempt to engage with the young people of the town. We have held under 18's discos at the Civic Hall with up to 280 young people attending and even hosted MC Battles at the Riverside Meadow, in general it is a great opportunity to be able to speak to some of the young people of the area and to begin to understand what their issues are.

We are constantly looking for ways in which we can show the love of Jesus to the community around our church building, whether this be prayer support or practical help.

We recently helped a single Mum to redecorate her house. With ladders; paint pots and brushes in hand, we arrived on a Saturday morning, to the heady smell of tea on the brew. With the pot drunk dry, off we went, doors off hinges, paper off walls, painters stood in baths. At the end of the day, two smart rooms, as bright as shiny new pins.

What a day that was!

Another new initiative are our Ladies Pamper Parties. Over 20 ladies came to our last event to relax to peaceful worship music, whilst having their feet massaged and oiled, their faces treated and their nails beautified.

At the end of the evening the ladies were sent on their way with a Goody Bag of beauty products. All of this and totally free of charge!
